Pirate girls change the world. Was talking with a friend yesterday about how you shouldn’t type your kids but I’m super sure Kembe is a 7 and she said “oh, you mean the way he walks through the school and every single kid knows him?” Yep. It’s true. He has the brightest and kindest spirit, has never met a stranger, and walks through the school high-fiving the younger kids. “He’s always so happy” is the most common comment I get about him. (Okay, maybe about his height, too.) He’s the kid . . .

Gratuitous cute cousin photos   We found the cutest little skate spot/coffee shop last night and had to go back again today. Three of the four insisted they bring their boards on this trip which was interesting (annoying and inconvenient) to navigate on the plane and in our tiny rental car. Feels good to find places to use them. @ridenature Waffle House, then a stroll through a nature preserve, then sorting great-grandma’s buttons and doing a puzzle with grandpa. A simple . . .

India had her last talent show at her elementary school last night and they killed it doing a Spice Girls routine. She’s done solo musical theater numbers for the past few years but really wanted to do something with friends for the last show, and they had so much fun with it. A huge shout-out to her teacher for being such a great sport and popping out as Posh Spice at the end! Here's an announcement that is long overdue . . . I'm writing a book! The perils of letting kids cook: @jaftahowerton executed a fantastic chicken marsala tonight. He also executed a slice out of his middle finger with the knife. ? Trying a new thing where I let the kids go through my cookbooks, choose a meal, and prepare it for the family one night of the week. And then came home and told me said friend wasn’t home - a fact I completely forgot as I left to pick up the boys from church.
