As they should.I am overwhelmed with excitement at the thought of having him home.I am overwhelmed with gratitude for my friends, and even strangers, who advocated on my behalf. I have had touchpoints with my senators, congressmen, and even people in the state department. Thank you for that.I am overwhelmed with love for my two kids who have talked all day about . . .
find a way to get you home
We have made some incredible friends in this adoption journey. Many of them I got to meet for the first time just over a week ago during our race for Heartline. That feels like a lifetime ago. I left feeling so bonded with these women, especially after battling the elements of that bitterly cold Sunday morning. Little did I know our lives would change in two days, and how that bond would be cemented as we wait and watch and worry about our little ones in Haiti.Today there has been so much . . .

*UPDATE - OUR SON RECEIVED HUMANITARIAN PAROLE AND IS NOW HOME. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!* I am home from Haiti, safe and relieved. So many stories to tell, but right now we are mobilizing our energy towards trying to get our son home, too. It was extremely difficult to leave him in Haiti under the current situation. We are hearing rumors that there may be an option for getting him home under humanitarian parole. I know a lot of you are reading this blog and offering help. THIS IS HOW YOU CAN . . .
shaken
(day 1 - Tuesday)Last night a massive earthquake hit Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, where I am visiting our adoptive son. I am still reeling. The reports I’ve heard are saying it was a 7.4. I’m finding that hard to believe, having been through many an earthquake in my day living in California. It felt like nothing I have ever experienced. At about 5pm, we were getting ready to head out for dinner. I had Karis strapped in her infant car seat, and Keanan was playing in the backyard. I ran upstairs to grab . . .

the panic button
It is almost midnight in Orlando. Our race is in 6 hours. We have to wake up at 4am to get to our corrals on time, and I should be sleeping, but I can't. I have been having a great time with the gals, bonding over adoption and Haiti and running and the eating of carbs. But I am beginning to really panic. Not just a little nerves, or a case of the jitters. More like a DEFCON 5 freak-out.Remember when I said I was having stress dreams about this race, where everything was going awry? All . . .
common creole phrases
I'm spending a few days in Haiti after our big race in Orlando this weekend, so I wanted to brush up on some Creole phrases. I just did an online search and came across a website with a link to "Common Creole Phrases". I guess someone has determined these to be amongst the most likely sentences one would need to navigate their way in Haiti? After a couple salutations, key words, and the days of the week, we find the following phrases:Mwen pa two byen - I'm not too well Mwen malad - I'm . . .
