Dishing on Downton Abbey: Season 3 Finale (The Christmas Special of Doom)
Well. As you will see, Sarah and I move from speechlessness to anger to denial to just plain yelling. A lot of yelling. SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD. This episode was shocking, to say the least. What will become of our beloved Downton family? How are you coping with this horrific turn of events? . . .

I’m A Mom Of An Ordinary Kid I’m the mom that sits at TaeKwonDo tournaments and hopes for the first place that doesn’t come. I’m the mom that’s been at soccer games and basketball games and ached inside, wishing that the sheer will of my love for this kid could make a ball float effortlessly from his foot or hand into the goal or hoop. IKEA hack: yellow toddler bed
In our previous home, the girls slept in a bunk bed. In the new house, India has a loft bed above the closet, so we wanted to get a toddler-sized bed for Karis, to free up some floor space. Finding a stylist yet affordable toddler bed is no small feat. Most toddler beds look like converted cribs in cheap white wood. I found a few modern toddler beds I really liked, but I wasn’t about to spend nearly $1000 on a bed she would only use for a few years. So these guys, while . . .
announcing our new American citizen
I am really thrilled to report that Kembe received his official American status this morning, upgrading him from “legal refugee” status to “certified citizen”. Of course, he had no idea what was going on, since I didn’t think he needed to be privy to the stress and annoyance of this process over the last three years. It reminded me of Jafta’s official adoption day that happened 3 years after it should have – yet another stressful process we shielded from the kids, so that when . . .

five fun things
My friends Christine Koh and Asha Dornfest have a new book coming out called Minimalist Parent. I love the philosophy behind their parenting approach. For example: You can check out more about their book here. Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I love these Hunger Games valentines. I don’t typically give out valentines to girlfriends, on account of my laziness, but if I did it would totally be these. Source: yenniper.blogspot.fr via Kristen on . . .
So Totally Relidge! (a week in review): Purity Culture and Idolizing Virginity
In the latest episode of So Totally Relidge!, we’re talking about the hot topic of the week: virginity. Specifically, the evangelical emphasis on virginity by way of things like Purity Balls, promise rings, and True Love Waits seminars. Unfortunately, we recorded this episode last week before the topic hit a fever pitch, culminating in The Gospel Coalition responding and then The Guardian covering the topic as well. Let’s review: First, several women wrote about their experience with the . . .

Dishing on Downton Abbey Season 3 Episode 6 (Rule of thumb: don't kiss someone while asleep!)
We’re back! Sarah James and I are dishing, as we do, on the latest episode of Downton Abbey. This one was a doozy, with some seriously cringe-worthy antics. This was our faces during the unexpected kiss: Warning: spoilers below! What did you think of the episode? . . .

My Freedom is Bound to Yours | SheLoves Magazine My privilege goes back to the day I was born as a white Afrikaner baby girl in Apartheid South Africa. It’s my old story, yes, but it has framed how I see and understand the world. From the depths of my own soul, I learned that freedom is not indivisible. We cannot take freedom away from others and expect to keep it for ourselves. Freedom doesn’t work like that. Freedom needs room to breathe and when we close in the walls on others, . . .
