Chilling in the cabana while the kids ride the waterslides. This is my kinda vacation. @greatwolflodge#genzss18 Fun at the #genzss18social media summit for kids. If you have kids engaged on Instagram or YouTube@genzsocialsummit is a great way for them to learn good practices. When you show up at your next conference rocking swag from the last one. #genzss18 #mom2summit @dove Okay real talk: @tayediggsinsta was way more interested in India . . .

Thanksgiving in Haiti

May 3, 2018

On Thursday's I post from the vault. This post is from November 2007. I’ve been wanting to share pictures and stories from our Haiti trip and I’m just now getting the chance to sit down and process it. We had such an amazing trip. I was feeling apprehensive about leaving India, about taking Jafta, about traveling to a crazy, volatile country, but it ended up being such a good experience for all of us. Entering the country of Haiti is always an experience. The airport is just a small room, . . .

Taking in Infinity Wars* at the Newport Beach Film Festival. . *Infinity Wars is not an official selection or in any way associated with the Newport Beach Film Festival. **If you look closely India is smiling through her tears. Spoiler alert: it was kind of a downer. A fun party with friends for this girl yesterday! #oldheadshotday #revlontoastofnewyork Why yes I did put a nannycam INSIDE the fridge to keep the kids from licking the cake before today’s . . .

I am writing this from the grave as yesterday I died of embarrassment. I was sitting at church before the service started going over the worship set with one of the pastors. Meanwhile, Karis is sitting nearby, and she has brought a really old purse of mine that I gave her. And suddenly she pulls this condom out of an interior pocket of my purse and hands it to me and says “what is this?” Right there in the front row of church as I’m planning the set list of hymns with a guy I don’t know that . . .

Our First Family Mission Trip

April 12, 2018

On Thursday's I post from the vault. This post is from August 2007. We just returned from our first mission trip as a family. We went with a team from our church to a small village in Baja, Mexico, to build houses for three families. We had an amazing time, and wanted to share some pictures and stories with you. The village we visited was remote and rural, and very different from the Mexico we have visited before. The people lived in extreme poverty, more like the conditions we’ve seen in . . .

She decided to organize the linen closet on her own so I guess I win at parenting. ?? So proud of India! She played Jack in her school’s production of Into the Woods. Stealing my beanie and my jacket and looking cooler than me, always. Kembe and Jafta are inspecting the work of the drywall professionals and they are not impressed. ?? THIS MAKES ME GIDDY. Repost @jamiethevwm:・・・Ummmm... *I* wrote the #1 best selling Christian Theology book on . . .

Easter fun ... Happy Easter! What I love about this age: they are stoked to assemble the Easter stuff themselves and chose to watch Arrested Development while doing so. ? It’s the episode where Michael’s British girlfriend keeps calling him a pussy. Happy Easter kids! Love seeing all these kids excited about musical theater! #hamiltunes When theater nerds unite. #hamiltunes It’s “loc down” day for @gergerdee_z. Twisting and champagning . . .

The Poop Hits the Fan

March 29, 2018

On Thursdays I post from the vault. This post is from June 2007. I got a call from our attorney this morning. She basically told me that she and the county’s attorney are worried that there is a chance that Jafta could be returned to his birthmom. She wanted to shoot straight with me and wants us to be prepared for this possibility. The next court date is June 26th, and it is likely that the birthmom’s attorney will call for a contested trial which will drag this out for a very long time and . . .

On kids, gun, fear, and why I didn’t march

March 27, 2018

I enjoyed seeing so many of my friends at the march on Saturday. What a heartening response to the ongoing crisis of gun violence in our country. .I wanted to march as well, but ultimately decided to sit this one out. I had my kids that day. And while I’ve loved taking my kids on marches in the past, I was concerned about having them participate in this one. I have struggled with generalized anxiety disorder my whole life. It means that my brain obsesses over possible negative outcomes every . . .
