Chatting with my friend Noah, the teenage creator of Andromeda Fight League.
Noah Massaro lives across the street from me. He's a smart and creative 16-year-old who loves fantasy and gaming and he created a really incredible board game called Andromeda Fight League. He built the game around a great premise that avoids pitting characters against each other with the aim to kill. Instead, the backstory involves warriors coming together after a time of war, using their powers to battle each other in an exercise to maintain peace. The characters include enchanters, creatures . . .

Wednesday’s Child: Ari
Every Wednesday I feature a child recently highlighted by a local Wednesday's Child newscast to share the stories of children from around the country who are waiting for a family. My hope is that this can broaden exposure for the children highlighted, but also serve as a reminder that these children represent thousands of children currently in the foster-care system. Perhaps their stories will inspire you to consider opening your home to a child needing a family. For more information and to . . .
That’s what SHE said
Here are some of things I read this week that made me think. (These are just snippets – click on the title to read the whole thing). How Donald Trump is leading the transformation to turn the Republican Party into the new KKK from Daily News “The phrase “alt-right” was coined by one of the most bigoted, racist, white supremacists in America — Richard Betrand Spencer. He is the brain of the alt-right movement — which is nothing more than white supremacist bigotry by a new name. In . . .

The season of phlegm: on avoiding Flu FOMO
This post was sponsored by Clorox Warning: California resident about to whine about winter. Temper resentment accordingly. I hate winter. I HATE IT. I’ve never liked it. I spent most of my childhood in Central Florida, where the winter was a time when you wore a cardigan over your tank top. When I was 18, I decided I wanted to college somewhere where I could “experience the seasons”. But really, I did this with all the anthropological curiosity of someone going to live with an ancient . . .
Grove Collaborative Favorites
Sharing some of my favorite natural products from Grove Collaborative. . . .
It’s Grove gift-with-purchase time!
I was recently turned on to a site called Grove Collaborative. They sell all-natural products . . . everything from skin care to diapers to cleaning products with brands like Mrs. Meyer’s, Tom's of Maine, and Dr. Bronners. They carry a lot of brands I already love, but at much better prices. I've also discovered some new items that I love. (Their line of natural lip balm? I'm obsessed. Vanilla mint for the win.) A couple times a year they run these amazing promotions and today, they've got . . .
