Wednesday’s Child 10-year-old Zuriah
Every Wednesday I feature a child recently highlighted by a local Wednesday's Child newscast to share the stories of children from around the country who are waiting for a family. My hope is that this can broaden exposure for the children highlighted, but also serve as a reminder that these children represent thousands of children currently in the foster-care system. Perhaps their stories will inspire you to consider opening your home to a child needing a family. For more information and to . . .

IPHONE PHOTO DUMP, MID-JANUARY 2012 | ON THURSDAY’S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM JANUARY 2012.
ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM JANUARY 2012. One of the things I love about my kids is that they love to dress up. The girls spend most of their days at home in one costume or another. (And if not in a costume, Karis is usually in a diaper). Every day they find new and more creative ways to give me anxiety. Lately they’ve taken to using our headboard as a diving board. How we’ve never been to the ER is a question for the ages. New Year’s goal: go to the beach . . .

THE SLACKER MOM’S GUIDE TO HOMEMADE PHOTO CARDS FOR VALENTINE’S DAY | ON THURSDAY’S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM FEBRUARY 2012.
ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM FEBRUARY 2012. I’m not really a “handmade card” kind of mom. I think it’s lovely that other moms are, but at this stage in our family there is usually just not enough time in the day for me to indulge in my creative side . . . beyond staring at the things other people are doing on Pinterest. With Valentine’s Day approaching, though, I did decide to make some homemade cards, inspired in part by cards like this one. But, if . . .

Life Lately
This is my last year of stressing out while my son intentionally rams his body into other people! These goofballs heard it was “BYO slurpee cup day” at 7/11 and scoured my house to find the biggest containers. Props to India’s friend who filled an actual pitcher. This is not a tweet about student loan forgiveness and any similarities in logical fallacy are completely coincidental. My kids go to a middle/high school combo, which is pretty intimidating for . . .

INTERVIEW WITH TAYE DIGGS ABOUT HIS NEW BOOK “CHOCOLATE ME” | ON THURSDAY’S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM JANUARY 2012.
ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM JANUARY 2012. ast week, I was asked to take part in a phone interview with Taye Diggs about his new children’s book called Chocolate Me. Yes . . . that Taye Diggs. I responded (perhaps too quicky?) and let his people know that I was a fangirl and a Renthead, and that I was really, really, super-duper dorky excited, and despite me acting like an adolescent girl about it, they still let me interview him. Let me explain my feelings . . .
