Life Lately

July 27, 2020

View this post on Instagram   India tried her hand at Japanese red bean mochi today (daifuku). We had fun mispronouncing the name and rolling the dough. The verdict: 2 of 4 kids really liked it. I thought it was good but always have to do a mental override with sweet red bean paste. I still associate red beans with ham and cornbread. 😂 This was from an @eat2explore kit (more on that in my stories, but it's a monthly recipe . . .

Catching up | On Thursdays I post from the vault. This post is from October 2009.

July 24, 2020

On Thursdays I post from the vault. This post is from October 2009.   We are slowly but surely settling back in from our whirlwind trip to Haiti last week. During the month of September, we somehow spent nearly as much time traveling as we did at home. My house, my work, my kids, my sleep, my email inbox, and my patience are all feeling the results of that. I am SO looking forward to a month of doing nothing. (Nothing other than raising three small children while working from home, of . . .

Wednesday’s Child – Iliana

July 23, 2020

Every Wednesday I feature a child recently highlighted by a local Wednesday's Child newscast to share the stories of children from around the country who are waiting for a family. My hope is that this can broaden exposure for the children highlighted, but also serve as a reminder that these children represent thousands of children currently in the foster-care system. Perhaps their stories will inspire you to consider opening your home to a child needing a family. For more information . . .

The passport problem, and staying off the ledge| On Thursdays I post from the vault. This post is from September 2009.

July 16, 2020

On Thursdays I post from the vault. This post is from September 2009. I'm feeling a little edgy this week. Could be all the traveling we've been doing this month. Could be the three kids thing, the nursing thing, the not-sleeping thing . . . could just be a little lingering post-partum crazy. Whatever the reason, I've been finding myself a little overwhelmed. Okay, . . .
