I'm talking with Jenny Lawson (The Bloggess) about her book Broken (In the Best Possible Way) about mental health, using humor to cope, our brains lying to us, and our shared introversion mishaps. Jenny's memoir is simultaneously hilarious and thought-provoking, and you can find it here. . . .
MURPHY’S LAW AND 911 CALLS | ON THURSDAY’S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM FEBRUARY2011.
ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM FEBRUARY 2011. I flew home from Arkansas last night – I had an incredible time at the Idea Camp. It was an amazing and comprehensive look at orphan care, and there were so many inspiring speakers, most of whom are running NGO’s that are doing amazing things to keep children from becoming orphaned in the first place, and then to serve the children who have been abandoned or who have lost their families. A sobering statistics: . . .
Wednesday’s Child, 15-year-old Jayden
Every Wednesday I feature a child recently highlighted by a local Wednesday's Child newscast to share the stories of children from around the country who are waiting for a family. My hope is that this can broaden exposure for the children highlighted, but also serve as a reminder that these children represent thousands of children currently in the foster-care system. Perhaps their stories will inspire you to consider opening your home to a child needing a family. For more information and to . . .

MY LITTLE BOUNTY HUNTERS | ON THURSDAY’S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM JANUARY 2011.
ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM JANUARY 2011. I am working at home today – trying to catch up on assignments before I leave for Idea Camp, and trying to suppress my inner whining as I sit inside on a holiday with gorgeous weather. Mark took the kids down to grandma and grandpa’s. Meanwhile, I keep getting mysterious emails from the online geocache forum with random clues. DId you look under the rock? Did you turn at the welcome plaque? It’s there, keep looking. And . . .

First day back to school. I cannot believe I have THREE in high school this year and my youngest in middle school. All four are at the same school once again (it's a middle/high combo) and I love it. The boys had their first football game Friday night and Karis is decked out in her cheer skirt with India rocking her ASB shirt. Quite a difference from last year where the first day was on zoom from home. (My kids did most of last year online, until I got the vaccine in the spring and they went . . .
That’s What SHE Said with Kristin Kobes Du Mez
I'm talking with Jesus and John Wayne author Kristin Kobes Du Mez about the dynamics of religious culture that have led to our current political landscape. Whether you grew up in Christianity or want to understand the Christian underpinnings of the American religious right, this was a fascinating conversation about her book that illuminated so much about the culture I grew up in. It's been a long-standing best-seller this year for good reason, and I hope everyone will read it because it's . . .
