A few weeks ago my family endured a terrible loss. If you’ve followed me for a long time, you’ve probably seen me post about my nephews. Before I had kids, they used to visit us in the summers. Now, they are grown men. Derek is married and he and his wife welcomed their 4th child this spring. A forth boy! His big brothers were so excited and the kids and I could not wait to meet him. A few weeks ago, they lost him unexpectedly when he was found unresponsive after a nap. Paramedics were able to revive a pulse and he was taken to the hospital and then airlifted to another hospital. He was put on life support but tragically was not able to recover. I’m sharing this to ask for your prayers for Derek, Jacie, and their children, but also to ask if you would consider a donation. I’ve talked a lot about how broken our healthcare system is, and this is, unfortunately, such an example. Derek and Jacie were fully insured. He’s a police officer. But their share of cost is astronomical. I hate that our system is so broken that so many people I love have had to crowd-fund in order to avoid being decimated by the debt of medical bills, and now that is the situation they find themselves in. If you can help, or even share their story, I would be so grateful. Their GoFundMe page is here.
