CHRISTIANS AND ADOPTION | ON THURSDAY’S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM OCTOBER 2010.
ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM OCTOBER 2010. I have a confession. I was a little ambivalent about attending my first Christian adoption conference. I read a lot of blogs. (Too many blogs). Some of them are very critical of adoption. I am an advocate for adoption, but I read with interest because I also think the system needs massive reform, and because I think it’s good to get the perspective of others. Usually I have a pretty high tolerance for listening to . . .

The other night we took an improv class, followed by a DJ'ed party at a local skate rink. Last week we took salsa dancing lessons. Next week, Bollywood. Super fun, . . .
THE RAINBOW CONNECTION | ON THURSDAY’S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM SEPTEMBER 2010.
ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM SEPTEMBER 2010. Jafta’s class is having a “Celebration of Color” over the next two weeks. In my mind it is more of a “Celebration of Chaos”, because he is supposed to wear an assigned color every day of the week for two weeks. And seeing as how I am struggling to remember to pick him up from kindergarten every day, this feels like a bit of a challenge. A couple of you suggested I just boycot the color thing, which would be . . .
THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF FAMILY | ON THURSDAY’S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM SEPTEMBER 2010.
ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM SEPTEMBER 2010. We saw a new staging of Peter Pan last night. It was an intense experience on many levels. I will write more about the show in a sec, since being a theater critic was my #2 career aspiration in college (#1 being a correspondent role on The Daily Show, but alas not all dreams come true). First, I feel like I should write out some of the profound adoption themes that the show brought up for me. (The mom bloggers and kids . . .
It doesn’t take much | On Thursday’s I Post From The Vault. This Post Is From September 2010.
On Thursday's I Post From The Vault. This Post Is From September 2010. We had a fun, lazy Sunday yesterday. It was a reminder how easily my kids are entertained. The kids painted some old boxes that had been lying around the garage. (I got these tempura paint cups from Lakeshore and I love them. It makes impromptu painting sessions much easier). Then the boys spent about an hour using the boxes as spaceships/battering rams on the trampoline. I was sure this . . .

ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM SEPTEMBER 2010. Our October calendar is quickly filling up. I don’t know about you, but our schedule is always feast of famine. We will have days or weeks of relatively nothing on the books, and then everything sort of happens at once. October is like that for us. I will be travelling three weekends in October, and although I’m really excited about all of it, I’m already feeling exhausted. Next week Mark and I are headed to . . .

ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM SEPTEMBER 2010. Jafta’s open house was tonight. As I approached the classroom, I noticed the teacher had posted pictures that each child made, along with their answer to the question, “What is your favorite part of kindergarten?” Jafta’s answer:“My favorite part of kindergarten is going to the cafeteria because I buy lunch.” . . .
