I was hanging out with some friends the other night . . . friends who (gasp) are not on twitter.  They were asking me what the point was – and their questions were valid.  Is it just where people tell what their having for dinner?  Yes.  Is it an ADD platform for narcissism?  Yes.  Is it a pointless way to waste time bantering with people you don’t really know? Yes.  It’s all of those things. But there is a little more to it, and . . .

ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM MAY 2011.   Tomorrow I leave for Louisville for a few days to attend the Christian Alliance for Orphans Summit. I’ll be speaking on Friday afternoon about how to advocate for orphans as a busy mom (more on that later). I will also be a part of a blogger’s meet-up on Thursday night. ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM MAY 2011. As a working mom, there is very little (if any) room for error or variation from the norm.  I already have more on my plate than is probably realistic with four children – I work as a college professor, I write for a number of websites, and I edit and manage a staff of writers for another.  If everything worked out exactly as planned in any given day, I still probably wouldn’t have enough time to do everything, but I could . . .

ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM MAY 2011.   Is there an iphone app where I can record my voice saying a couple key phrases, and just have them on auto-repeat throughout the day?  These are some of the things I hear come out of my mouth multiple times a day: Is this a problem you can solve without my help? Is this a tattling situation? Is this a situation that calls for yelling/screaming/crying? Do you need to go to the bathroom? Why didn’t you go when I asked . . .

ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM APRIL 2011. If these two decided to be a wrestling team (or a rock band) I would call them Perpetual Motion and the Wall of Noise.  One never stops moving.  The other never stops talking.  Together, they are a force to be reckoned with.  They make me tired.  Oh, so tired.   But they also make me laugh . . . and lucky for them I’m a sucker for cute boys with a good sense of humor.  . . .

THIS POST IS FROM APRIL 2011.  Today is Karis’s 2nd birthday.  I am trying not to think about it too much, because if I think about it too much, I will have to acknowledge that being TWO definitely catapults her out of the baby stage, and I am in total and complete denial about that fact.  We celebrated her birthday on Sunday, when the grandparents were here. For reasons that are beyond my comprehension, I admitted to Jafta that Sunday was not . . .

ON THURSDAY'S I POST FROM THE VAULT. THIS POST IS FROM APRIL 2011. `On Saturday, I attended a read-through for a show I am doing next Sunday afternoon.  There was a time in my life when terms like “read-through” and “doing a show” did not make me feel like a giant phoney.  There was a time when the passions that are now dormant had regular and tangible outlets.  So I’m a little giddy to be “doing a show”.  Next week I’ll be taking part in the LA version of Listen To Your Mother – a national . . .
