Yesterday a friend tipped me off to this hilarious adoption announcement from photographer Kelli Higgins Kelly’s usual subjects are newborns. One day her 13-year-old adopted son mentioned that he was sad that he had no photos of himself as an infant. On a whim, they decided to have him reenact the typical poses of a newborn shoot.. power, performance, Beyonce, and what it means to “own your sexuality”
Like many Americas, I watched the Superbowl on Sunday while perusing the internet, and witnessed a variance of reactions to both the ads and the halftime show. Beyonce’s performance has sparked quite the national conversation, both in the secular and Christian blogosphere. I saw a wide range of opinions, from people who loved her performance to those who thought it to be too risqué, from some who viewed it as a show of female empowerment to others who thought she was a conduit of Satan . . .

I thought the original commercial was moving and well-done, but it was also racially problematic and culturally inaccurate.
