I was recently turned on to a site called Grove Collaborative. They sell all-natural products . . . everything from skin care to diapers to cleaning products with brands like Mrs. Meyer’s, Tom's of Maine, and Dr. Bronners. They carry a lot of brands I already love, but at much better prices. I've also discovered some new items that I love. (Their line of natural lip balm? I'm obsessed. Vanilla mint for the win.) A couple times a year they run these amazing promotions and today, they've got . . .
Wednesday’s Child: Jorge
Every Wednesday I feature a child recently highlighted by a local Wednesday's Child newscast to share the stories of children from around the country who are waiting for a family. My hope is that this can broaden exposure for the children highlighted, but also serve as a reminder that these children represent thousands of children currently in the foster-care system. Perhaps their stories will inspire you to consider opening your home to a child needing a family. For more information and to . . .
The alt-right movement harassed my family for having black children, and Trump is considering their leader for Chief of Staff
If you care about me and my family, I hope you will read this. As many of you know, this year my family was targeted and harassed by a white-supremacy group known as the "alt-right" for having adopted black children. Their attack was brutal and relentless. They inundated all of my social media sites with racist memes, posting altered racist photos of my young children and suggesting violence towards me and sexual behavior in regards to my kids. Generally it involves us going around the table and saying a few things we like about each kid, and a few ways they have made us proud that day. We haven't done this since Kembe came home, and the other night as we were eating it occurred to me that we needed to include him in this tradition. I . . .

How to talk to your kids about Trump winning the election
As I watched the election results roll in tonight, I shifted from hope to anxiety, and then from fear to dread. As it began to sink in that a Trump presidency was likely, my overwhelming thought was my children. How to I explain this to them? How do I explain that a man whose platform was built on xenophobia was elected by more than half of our fellow citizens? How do I explain a country that supports someone like this? I've tried to engage my kids in thinking critically about politics this . . .
