Do you let your kids destroy their toys?
A reader wrote in with this question, and I thought it was a good one. Let's discuss! I have a serious, burning question that I need some fellow parenting help with. (Most of my friends are behind in this stage of the game so far!) So if you get writer’s block and need a quick post I’d love to know… Do you let your kids destroy their toys? So for example, on one hand… they’re his toys, they’re there to help him learn and grow, let him . . .
On motherhood and leaving a legacy for my kids
This post is sponsored by Legacy.com. Mother’s Day is an interesting holiday for me. It was a devastating day for many years, because of a string of miscarriages that left me feeling like I was a mom with no living children. It was further compounded when we were placed with Jafta but not able to finalized his adoption for another 3 years. Every mother’s day I was aware that I was a mom, but that this could be a temporary situation. Because of those years, I’m keenly aware of the gratitude I . . .

Wednesday’s Child: Lamontae and Nicolas
Every Wednesday I feature a child recently highlighted by a local Wednesday's Child newscast to share the stories of children from around the country who are waiting for a family. My hope is that this can broaden exposure for the children highlighted, but also serve as a reminder that these children represent thousands of children currently in the foster-care system. Perhaps their stories will inspire you to consider opening your home to a child needing a family. For more information and to . . .

House glamping
The last few weeks have been pretty chaotic around here as we've tried to get our new house into live-able conditions by May 1st so we can move in. We knew the whole remodel wouldn't be complete, but we figured that we could at least have some basics finished so that moving in would be a viable option. The most pressing items on our list were the floors and the kitchen. All of the other construction dust we could live with, but we at least needed the flooring in order to move in. Well . . . . .

#TBT Drama (you give me fever)
On Thursdays I post something from the archives. This is from February 2011. My kid (as most kids do) use some vocabulary that is uniquely their own. The funniest to me by far is the way Jafta refers to Karis's frequent spit-up as "drama". I have no idea how he picked this up, but he actually thinks this is the correct term for it. Of course I don't correct him, because it cracks me up. Nearly every day I hear him say "Uh-oh, Karis is having some drama right now". Or "There's some drama on the . . .
