My friend Sarah Bessey just wrote a book called Jesus Feminist. My copy arrived a few days ago and I’ve been staying up ‘till the week hours reading it . . . it’s just SO GOOD. I know that the word feminist conjures a lot of stereotypes, and even negativity for some people. I just had to share this little video of Karis singing her Very Favorite Song Ever. She’s becoming quite the performer, and one of her favorite activities is to have my film her and then watch it later. She made up choreography to this song, which cracks me up. (When she holds a mic in front of her mouth, that’s her mime for the word “song” . . . even though the real lyric is “sun”). If you look closely you can see Kembe doing a little air-guitar behind her.   . . .

I’ve talked about 31 Bits before, but I wanted to share about their new holiday line because it’s such a fun new look. 31 Bits helps women in Uganda earn their own living by making necklaces out of recycled paper.  I am a huge fan of 31 Bits (and not just because it was founded by some graduates of the university where I teach, and not just because the necklaces are awesome).
