When The Library is Too Much Work . . .

August 31, 2008

Do you know about Bookmooch? It’s a free website that allows you to list your own used books, and then “mooch” books you want from others. If you send a book, you get a point. You can use that point to get a different book. Simple, and yet genius! The only cost involved is mailing your books.

I usually take my brown grocery bags, cut them up, and wrap the book in it, and it’s typically $2.33 to send.
These were the books I gave away last week:
White Teeth: A Novel
Magical Thinking: True Stories
Midwives
I Am Charlotte Simmons: A Novel
Nice Dreads: Hair Care Basics
I’m hoping to get:
Same Kind of Different As Me
Foreskin’s Lament
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time
Geek Love: A Novel

I’ve had Animal, Vegetable, Miracle on my bookmooch wish list for a while. Boo hoo! You gave it to someone else 🙁

    Is it worth waiting for?

This is awesome! I’m definitely a reader and my husband is always on me about how much I spend on books… this will be perfect. Thanks for the tip!

I have Three Cups of Tea if you want it. Seriously. If you’d like to bypass the Book Mooch, send me an email. (Is this creepy? Maybe divulging an address falls into the category of TMI, since I don’t even know you?)

My sister read Animal Vegetable Miracle, which she said was good. We are reading In Defense of Food. It think it is pretty much about the same thing. I think I’m going to have to give this Book Mooch thing a go.
