mothers of olympic athletes get a surprise from P&G

May 22, 2012

I mentioned in a previous post that P&G asked me to be a part of a their Thank You Mom campaign for the 2012 Olympic Games. I don’t do a lot of sponsored content on my blog, but being a part of a series whose main goal is to honor moms? I’m all about that. P&G recently announced one of the biggest aspects of their campaign so far.  They have committed to giving each mom of the U.S. Olympians and Paralympians a $1,000 Visa reward card to help offset travel costs, to ensure that every mother of our country’s Olympians gets to see their child compete.  Jodi Allen of P&G explains how they made this decision:

“We asked the U.S. Olympic Committee how P&G could support and thank the moms of U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes. They told us, ‘help them get to London to see their child compete.  After years of sacrificing to help their children achieve their dreams, many of these moms struggle to find the financial means to see this dream realized. This is why P&G created the “Thank you, Mom” gift, which will make it easier for the mom behind every U.S. Olympian and Paralympian on the 2012 Team to share their child’s dream.”

To help keep U.S. moms connected with their athletes and families in London, P&G will also create the P&G Family Home, a private “home away from home” where moms of Olympians can spend time with their athletes in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. You can watch the official announcement in this clip from the Today Show.

P&G is the Proud Sponsor of Moms, not just the moms of athletes, but ALL moms around the world. Join P&G in thanking your mom by sharing this video with her. In addition, for each person who likes the Thank You Mom facebook page, P&G will donate $1 to the USOC P&G|Team USA Youth Sports fund, up to $100,000. This is part of a $5MM global commitment P&G has made to support local youth sports in many countries. PSOM_a
