Is “come here, now go away” is the dynamic of every teen sister relationship or just mine?
Our third kid to catch COVID spent her quarantine in the backhouse with very mild symptoms (thank you Pfizer). She immediately grabbed her bass and her art and craft supplies and settled in for a week of introverted bliss. The boys both had it in late summer with no symptoms at all. We are very fortunate to be able to play musical chairs to have this space for quarantining. The rest of us stayed in the house and tested regularly, and managed to not get it. Although with the way things are going at school, there a no guarantees!
I had joked about the fact that my youngest was bummed to test negative, because she wanted her week chilling with tv and crafts in the backhouse. A commenter felt I was being insensitive because “people are dying” so I deleted. I hope that I have been clear that I care very, very much about the seriousness of this pandemic and particularly about the loss of life. We have the levity we do because we are vaccinated, which is something I hope that everyone will consider. I am very cognizant that people are dying, and vaccination is the very best protection against that. I am very grateful that a case in our household was an inconvenience but not a health crisis.
A night out to see My Fair Lady at @segerstromarts. This revival had an interesting ending. If you’ve seen My Fair Lady, do you think she should have stayed with him? I’m team Dump His Patronizing Ass.
This week in “pick your battles” my 12yo now has a coffeemaker in her room.
