We saw She Loves Me at @southcoastrep today … it was so darling! It’s long been one of my favorite musicals and this was a great staging, with lots of fun interactive activities in the lobby.

Jafta’s 4th year marching with @100blackmenoc at the OC Black History Parade.
An emotional game after an emotional week for our school district, with beloved students and coaches lost in the helicopter crash. The gym was covered in posters for Alyssa, who was in 8th grade. Kobe was a frequent figure at our local games, whether he was watching Gianna or other students he coached. A loss to our local basketball community … but I’m just absolutely devastated for the children and spouses and parents who lost family members.
Learning very valuable life skills, like the foxtrot.

I wrote a chapter about friendship in my book, because it’s something that has been incredibly important in my life, but also incredibly fraught. Some 15 years ago we left a church just as we were building our family and I found myself as a new mom without a community. About a decade later I went through a divorce and in that process had some devastating friendship losses as well. It has been a pain point for me, and at times I have felt like my friendship radar was so off that I just wanted to give up, but I have continued to try to push in. I am so grateful for this group of women who said yes to building an intentional community with me some eight years ago. They have carried me through some dark times and I’m so grateful. It was so fun to get to know their partners better. Even if their presence did cause us to speak in Righteous Gemstone quotes for most of the weekend. (Fixed it @sarahbessey and @brianbessey)
