Hurricane Hillary update: the aftermath is a lot of unused water in jugs and our bathtubs. We made a “hurricake” but the most harrowing part of the day was @indiahowerton making me watch Cats against my will.

Trying to wrap my brain around the fact that my youngest, my BABY, is starting high school next week. I just watched her cheer for her first football game. I have one in college and everyone else in high school and man, it feels like the countdown is really on and I am in my feels about it. Sunrise and sunset and all that.
Relishing these last few days of summer with my kids. They were busy and I am crazy proud of what each of them accomplished. Karis finished her first college class before even starting high school. Kembe got tons of flying experience with @obap_lwfa and @flycompton while India did film programs with both UCLA and NYU. Jafta got his guard card and his first security job while also getting a head start on college. They all worked hard in their own ways and I am crazy proud of each of them. We are enjoying a chill week before school starts on Monday.

One of my high school besties visited last week and we went through old photos of the many “photo shoots” we did during sleepovers. (Swipe to see a few). We were forever dressing up and trying to do our own Benetton or “Revlon Women of the World” impersonations with our grainy film cameras. I showed them to my kids and told them they need to be doing more cheesy photo shoots with their friends. Who cares if it’s cringey? Thirty years later it will bring you so much joy. @mariana_dbp
