Great books for kids/teens 2022

July 3, 2022

Wendi Aarons is one of the funniest writers I know, and she just released a book featuring a spunky 12-year-old comic. Ginger Mancino, Kid Comedian is a funny and heartfelt story about navigating middle school.

A young adult novel by the hilarious and brilliant R. Eric Thomas? Yes please. Kings of B’more features two black, queer best friends on an epic adventure. It’s heartwarming and hilarious.

The wisdom and wit of Luvvie Ajayi’s book Professional Troublemaker is targeted for teens in the new release Rising Troublemaker: A Fear-Fighter Manual for Teens. This book is full of helpful life advice.

Matthew Paul Turner is my very favorite children’s author. His books for kids are affirming and inclusive, and his newest, I Am God’s Dream, encourages kids to embrace their uniqueness.

The Catch Me If You Can: One Woman’s Journey to Every Country in the World isn’t a kids’ book per se, but we just got this and my family is loving it. It is full of beautiful photographs and narrative accounts of Jessica Nabongo’s quest to visit every country in the world. It’s a great way for kids to vicariously explore other countries and cultures, and get excited about seeing the world themselves.
