Have you ever taken a vacation by yourself? I’m doing that this week. It’s … interesting. It’s definitely true: wherever you go, there you are. I have a vision of my vacation self that does not always match reality. Or that takes a while to find. I finally hit my stride today, on day 3. I came to the Bay Area because I wanted to be in nature, and I’m in a @homeexchangecom right on the water, which is great. Working remotely this week and trying to get in as many hikes as I can. Open to your recs on shows to binge.
Edited: turning off comments because black women are sharing their perspectives and getting attacked. And the parallel of black women getting verbally attacked for talking about a situation in which a black woman was verbally attacked is not lost on me. Sharing some perspectives (with permission) in my stories.
Also ableist jokes are terrible and we should stop tolerating them. But also men, WOMEN DO NOT NEED YOU TO PROTECT US FROM INSULTS WITH VIOLENCE. Stop deluding yourself that leaning into your unchecked anger is benefitting us or in service of us. It’s not your duty nor does it help to throw punches or escalate the stakes when someone is shitty to us. I’m clearly over all of the bullshit tonight. #oscars
The kids and I had to vacate the house for a night because we are hosting a family from HomeExchange that started a day before mine did. So last night we stayed at a local WorldMark (a timeshare I bought off ebay for 2k – anyone else owners?) We tooled around Downtown Disney last night. Today they head back to dad’s while I head up to the Bay Area to stay in another person’s home for a little solo vacation. But this unexpected night of “forced family fun” was actually a blast. Still waiting for the horror of the teen years everyone talks about. I’m loving this stage.
I won’t let her pierce her septum at 12, so she made a fake from the wire of a face mask and some earring parts. 😂 At what age would you allow a nose piercing?
