Having three kids in high school has been a learning curve. I’m so glad they are all in school again but the transition back into all of their activities is overwhelming. We are a busy family, and staying on top of everyone’s homework is a challenge. Not to mention, I’m also struggling to help with classes and subjects that are way above my pay grade.
Enter Paper.co. It’s an amazing, on-demand tutoring service that school districts can implement to help kids get help whenever they need it. They offer homework help, essay feedback, and study support. Help is available in multiple languages, and it’s available 24/7. Which is an incredible feature, given that most of the time my kids are remembering something that is due the next day right before they go to bed.
This week, India tried out the essay feedback feature. She uploaded an essay she had due in CompLit, and the next day, she had it returned to her with really great feedback that she could implement to improve her essay before turning it in. It came back in less than 24 hours, and she feels like it helped improve her essay enough to get a better grade than she would have without feedback. Tutors provide detailed notes on grammar, structure, and content, and they also check for plagiarism. Students can submit any written work, including essays, lab reports, research papers, or even college application essays. It’s so helfpul that I’ve now made it a family rule that any written assignments need to be run through Paper before turning in. Can I tell you how much I love that I can outsource this?
Here’s what the portal looks like, which automatically syncs with her school schedule and allows her to select tutors proficient in each subject.
They also offer on-demand study assistance and homework help. So if a kid is studying and needs help, they can pop on and be connected with a qualified tutor right away. Their tutors are subject-specific and it takes about 15 seconds to connect to one. Rather than giving away answers, Paper tutors ask students guiding questions to solidify fundamental concepts and promote long-term academic success.
Another thing that I really love about Paper is that they are dedicated to making tutoring accessible to all kids. Tutoring can be expensive but Paper works with school districts to offer tutoring to kids free of charge. Kids can get help at any time, on subjects that a lot of parents can’t help with (for example . . . India’s AP Human Geography class. I’ve not no clue, but she can get help on Paper.) It is bringing equitable resources to students who otherwise may not have had access to tutoring.
