A little birthday brag on this girl today. She’s a freshman in high school this year and spent her summer taking her first college class (humanities) before even taking her first high school class. This summer she was also in Spring Awakening – the youngest in her cast and such an amazing production and experience. This year she’s taking French at our local community college and enjoying being on JV dance team at school, as well as being a part of the school play (Almost Maine) and a member of ASB. She’s smart, kind, funny, and fierce, and her fashion sense is better than mine. She is 95% responsible for any new music I listen to, and she is truly a joy to be around. She wants to go to college in France and I am going to work as hard as possible over the next 4 years to convince her to stay in SoCal. (Kidding. Kind of.) Love you @indiahowerton
A little birthday brag on this guy. Kembe started his freshman year playing two sports: water polo and football. We thought it wouldn’t be sustainable but he has kept it up, getting in the pool at 6am and then again at 1:30, and then heading to football practice two hours later. Some days he can barely walk but he refuses to back down. He plans to play basketball next season, and likely another sport in spring. He’s taking guitar at school again this year, and was voted onto homecoming court by his peers. Kembe is a ball of positivity and charisma, and I’m told the party never really starts until he arrives. He’s also outgrown everyone in the family at this point, including his already-tall dad and big brother. He’s such an incredible kid and I love watching him grow up into such a lovely young man. Love you @kembehowerton!
Happy 15th to our twins! These two bring me so much joy and make me proud every day. I love watching them grow into such fun and enjoyable teenagers and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them both!

Heyyyo! Instagram back up, productivity back down.
Celebrating Chaz
Happy birthday to my partner Chaz! And shout-out to the cake lady at Stater Brothers for her excellent hearing and writing skills. First time I’ve ever gone store-bought and this was a hilarious and terrible-tasting delight.
He’s fine, guys, he’s Haitian.
Stoked to be back in person for @100blackmenoc. They’ve got a great year of mentoring, STEM, college and career prep and financial literacy planned. If you are raising black teens I cannot recommend this organization enough!

Were we thrilled with Ben Platt being cast in the movie? No. Did we show up for opening night of Dear Evan Hansen anyway? You bet. (As it turns out, Ben Platt’s terrible haircut was more of a distraction than his age but his vocals were 10/10. We got to see him do the show on Broadway … he is amazing. But would have loved to see someone else in this movie!)
