Life Lately

India tried her hand at Japanese red bean mochi today (daifuku). We had fun mispronouncing the name and rolling the dough. The verdict: 2 of 4 kids really liked it. I thought it was good but always have to do a mental override with sweet red bean paste. I still associate red beans with ham and cornbread. 😂 This was from an @eat2explore kit (more on that in my stories, but it’s a monthly recipe kit with foods from around the world.) #foodiejafta

When your hair matches your dress. #tigerking @teacollection

Our @eat2explore recipe box was from Greece this month. Karis prepped this meal and it was SO GOOD.

I took a bath yesterday and was chatting with @lauramayes during my bath (as one does) and laughing about the overpromise of my bath bomb based on how life feels right now. “BLISS: Eternal Joy and Never-Ending Splendor” . . . LOL. That’s cute. We started coming up with more realistic names for mid-pandemic baths. Something like “Panic, But A Little Less Than Before” or “A Quiet Scream” or “Can I Get Five Minutes of No One Talking to Me FFS”. What’s the name of your pandemic bath bomb?

I was chatting with @ariellelorre for an upcoming podcast and she mentioned these @cocoluvcookies that are plant-based and giving her life right now, and then offered to send me some. They arrived today and OMG. They are amazing. Of course all of my children gathered (how is it that they cannot hear me calling their name to put a dish in the sink but I open a package of baked goods and their ears are suddenly hyper-tuned to sound?) I tried to protect the cookies for myself by telling the children that they were vegan, and disgusting, and even a little spicy. No one believed me, so I guess I have to share. Thank you, Arielle! I’m a convert.

Just making sure that all of the sacred texts are represented in our home. #theholybookofhamilton

For the record, I do NOT wish her well.
