Just had to have this pep talk with my teens today, who are bumming on missing their friends. It’s a tricky balance to acknowledge the disappointments and losses in this season but also keep it in perspective.
Oh snap somebody broke out the One Direction songbook. #coronacation #onedaycv
So I’m looking for a reframe for this period of time. What are we calling it? “Isolation” sounds sad and lonely. “Safe housing” sounds like a mob movie plot. We aren’t technically in quarantine because he haven’t been exposed. My friend @etst is calling it “cozy home days”. Anybody else have a creative name for this unique period of staying at home that we are in?
Day 1 of our 30-day coronavirus weekend is off to a great start! Kids not as thrilled as I am about it. #stresscleaning #copingbykondo #forcedlabor
How we’re entertaining ourselves today … #thatfortlife
I shared my at-home plan for structure in the coming weeks of school closure and many of you asked to steal it, so I’ve made a google doc you can modify, as well as a printable PDF. I also went into more detail on the resources we will be using. Am I stress-planning? Just a little. But my kids are actually excited about this so, whatever works! https://rageagainsttheminivan.com/2020/03/how-to-homeschool-your-kids-through-covid-19-school-closures-for-non-homeschooling-parents.html
Thirty minutes ago I found out our school was cancelled till April 13th and I just put our new homeschooling schedule in place. This is how an #enneagram3 deals with stress. 😬
Feeling sad about the things we are missing out on this month but also agreeing that it is the right thing to do.
Life is about to get super weird. Let’s all make a pact : we all get to complain without judgment. Little disappointments. Big health fears. Canceled sports games. Losing income. Small inconveniences, brutal losses. It’s all gonna suck. Can we promise not to play hardhsip olympics? Like, if you’re bummed you’re missing a broadway show you had tickets to and I’m canceling a book tour, I don’t need to comment with “it could be worse’ rhetoric. If you’re complaining about school being shut down and I have asthma, I don’t need to lecture you over how health concerns are worse than inconveniences. IT ALL SUCKS. WE ALL GET TO BE BUMMED. AT ALL LEVELS.
