Why yes I just put 3 Christmas trees in one room. Tree #1: the old faithful, decorated in Martha Stewart’s “Woodland” collection from Walmart circa 2003 and frames of old school photos. Tree #2: the kid’s tree. Yes, I’m the asshole who relegates the homemade ornaments to a separate tree. Whatever. At least I kept them. Tree #3: a jazzy little mid century number I got at the post-Christmas sale at Target last year for 70% off. I phoned it on the class parties and didn’t cook a single thing this Thanksgiving but trees are apparently where I’m willing to overdo it.

Our beachfront dining reservation got rained out, but we still had a fun lunch. I share the day with my ex so our tradition has become going out to eat. Neutral territory, no arguing over cooking or cleaning up, and my “beige-diet” kids can get nuggets and fries. It’s what works for us.
