I knew the biggest hurdle in this surgery would not be pain, but managing my anxiety with my sinuses packed. And I did it. I had a couple panicked hours and I did a whole lot of meditative breathing. I was unable to tolerate any pain meds (opiates do not get along with my stomach) so I got through it with Tylenol and some Ativan. But the packing is out now, and I can breathe through my nose and feel like a new woman. Okay, a tired woman with two black eyes, but still. I’ve turned the corner and passed the hard part and I’m grateful and weirdly proud of myself for doing this thing despite it being up there on the list of Big Scary Things (just behind divorce and writing a book). Dr. Niccole said my septum curvature was worse than he thought and that he believes this surgery will dramatically improve my life. I’m so glad I did it. @Cosmeticare_ has taken great care of me. Now, a few more weeks of rest and cashing in on snuggles and breakfast in bed.
