A trip to Disneyland is always magical, but combined with the spirit of the holiday season, it is even more spectacular. I have amazing memories of visiting Disneyland with my parents as a child, and I love taking my own kids. Disneyland’s tagline for the holiday season is that it “just got merrier”, and it’s true . . . the park is so festive right now that every inch is decked for the holidays. We visited last week, just as they were rolling out both Christmas and the new Star Wars Season of the Force celebration in Tomorrowland. We might have dorked out in our Star Wars t-shirts for the occasion. The new Star Wars theme is a lot of fun with several new experiences, themed food and merchandise. Star Wars Launch Bay has a ton of memorabilia from Star Wars: The Force Awakens with special exhibits and peeks behind the scenes, including opportunities to visit with some favorite Star Wars characters. For example: They’ve also reimagined Space Mountain into Hyperspace Mountain, which takes you on an X-wing Starfighter battle. And the Tomorrowland Theatre is showing an exclusive preview to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the latest film in the Star Wars saga, which opens December 18 NOT THAT I AM COUNTING
And of course, the park is decked out with the usual holiday cheer. It’s a Small World is transformed for the holidays, and the Jungle Cruise is now the Jingle Cruise. A haunted mansion ride may not be your first idea for holiday cheer, but since this ride was adapted to Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas, it has become a fun holiday tradition. The whole ride gets transformed for the holidays, all the way to those hitchhiking ghosts at the end. We also got to watch the Paint the Night parade, which is hands-down my favorite Disneyland parade ever. It’s so incredibly creative and I love that it combines traditional Disney characters with Pixar favorites. And of course, no trip is complete without a churro. Our favorite. If you visit the park this holiday season you can join in the conversation using #DisneylandHolidays and #Disneyland60 on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
