I And Love And You: Get a coupon, feed a shelter dog

April 1, 2014

I’ve always been pretty intentional in making sure my kids eat healthy. So when we got a dog, naturally I wanted to give her healthy food as well. I went to Target and got what appeared to be the best food on the shelves, but Roxy didn’t seem very excited about it. In fact, I noticed that she was thrilled to get any kind of protein scraps from us, but her food would go ignored.

A couple days later, I joked on facebook that she kind of had a “dog smell.” I was kidding but it was true . . . she didn’t smell great. Overwhelmingly, people advised me that I needed to change her food to a grain-free formula. I was warned that most of the dog food on the mainstream store shelves were not that great. I did some research and found that to be true. Even the pricey stuff I had purchased from Target was full of filler grain.

I heard about a brand called I And Love And You (IALAY) from my friend Jessica. (You’ve probably seen her Theo and Beau photos that are taking over the internet.)  They specialize in making homemade, raw dog food with cage-free and free-range protein. It’s also grain-free. Their In The Raw dog food is easy to make – you just add water and let it sit for a few minutes. And it smells . . . good. It actually smells good. None of that dog food smell. It smells like actual food.

Two things I noticed right away when we switch to IALAY food: first, she ate the whole serving the minute I set it down. It was clear that she loved it. And I liked the fact that it means she can eat dinner with us, because she’s stoked about her meal and eating it when served, instead of hoping for cast-offs from our table. But within a few days, I also noticed that she smelled better. Her breath, her coat . . . she just didn’t have the same dog smell.

In addition to the raw food, IALAY also has a great Nude Food Kibble.  It’s free of corn, wheat, soy, and  gluten, and full of superfoods like chia seeds, green mussels, turmeric and olive oil. The kibble is great for busy days when you want a low-maintenance meal option. We’ve been leaving the kibble out for all-day eating, and using  In The Raw as her dinnertime meal.

Today, I’m excited to announce a great promotion with I And Love And You that will give you a deal on their products and also benefit dogs in need of a home. Over on their facebook page, IALAY has a $5 off coupon for my readers. To print a coupon, click here, hit “like” to like their page, and you will have the option to print a coupon. And the best part: for every coupon downloaded, IALAY will donate a meal (up to 1000 meals) to Pet Match Rescue, the organization that rescued Roxy from a high-kill shelter. Pet Match Rescue is dedicated to saving dogs from the pound and matching them with loving families.

Even if you don’t have a dog, you can still click over and download a coupon to give a meal to Pet Match Rescue. And if you are looking for a new pet, consider pet adoption! There are so many wonderful animals waiting for a home.
