I’ve written before about the fact that I’m a decidedly non-crafty mom. Doing craft projects with kids . . . especially THEMED craft projects . . . is an undertaking I usually just avoid, because I find it so overwhelming. I don’t have experience with childhood education and when I see the posts of crafty or homeschooling moms on Pinterest, it mostly just makes me depressed. I think BabbaBox was made for busy moms like me in mind, because they’ve already done the legwork. The box comes fully stocked with everything you need for several crafts. right down to the markers, glue, and scissors. No shopping required.
This month’s box centered around healthy eating, and I really like the way it was educational and fun at the same time. India spent about two hours making a place mat for herself that delineated the ideal food groups.
Later, she and Karis put together an interactive shopping list and folder that allows them to keep track of what healthy foods we need to replace in our pantry with a folder and felt velcro stickers. The box also included a free app game centered around healthy foods, and online educational links as well. It definitely provided several days worth of engaging material, and best of all, it made me feel like a really stellar mom without a lot of prep work.
