Stay Away, and Things Happen

September 8, 2007

Finally! A hearing! Of course, it happened while we were in Seattle. We debated over canceling our trip and then decided that the only way the hearing would actually happen is if we didn’t wake up at the crack of dawn and drive to LA.

Anyways, we are so excited to share that things are finally looking good. The judge did the arraignment and disposition on the same day, and set a trial for the TPR (termination of parental rights) on Sep. 24th. She waived the usual 120 day wait. We are again PROSPECTIVE ADOPTIVE PARENTS for Jafta! After the TPR we can file to adopt him. Which involved another couple of hearings at LA County Court, so who knows how long that will take. Maybe before kindergarten? Dare to dream?

I really can’t begin to tell you how many answered prayers have occurred in the last month, particularly to protect Jafta. Well, actually, I won’t tell you, because I want to honor the birthfamily’s confidentiality, but suffice it to say there was divine intervention in preventing the visitations that were required by law since December, that I believe would have been extremely confusing for him at this age.

We are breathing a huge sigh of relief. Not that I was ever worried or losing sleep about this. Right.

So thank you, thank you, thank you, for all of your prayers. They worked – big time.
